Combat

Combat is turn-based and grid-based. Cats and enemies use movement, active skills, passive effects, terrain, objects, weather, and status effects to create tactical chain reactions.

Combat priorities

  • Action economy: extra turns, first-turn effects, summons, and disables are extremely valuable.
  • Positioning: chokepoints, line of sight, knockback, and hazards often matter more than raw damage.
  • Status control: Burn, Wet, Frozen, Bleed, Curse, Charm, Madness, Root, and Stun can swing fights.
  • Protect carries: injuries can damage the long-term breeding plan, not just the current run.

Beginner combat plan

  1. Kill enemy status casters and ranged units first.
  2. Do not spend all movement walking into unknown threats.
  3. Use tanks to block lanes, not to chase enemies across the map.
  4. Save burst skills for enemies that are about to act.
  5. Retreat mentally before disaster: losing one run can be fine; losing your best bloodline is not.
